A team of designers including Wilkinson Eyre & Grant Associates have designed a remarkable city garden in Singapore known as Gardens by the Bay (The project has just won World Building of The Year). In a city where many of the public spaces are connected through covered streets this huge public garden is a welcome addition. The garden houses over 250,000 rare plants and pretty spectacular structural elements include huge climate-controlled glasshouse & a walkway giving panoramic views of the city.
A carefully balanced eco-system has also been replicated within the buildings which are intended to encourage bio-diversity in a city where nothing seems natural!
