Our project Inis Eonáin has recently been approved for planning by Cork County Council. The proposed bespoke dwelling house is modelled on a traditional farm house with emphasis placed on vernacular rural architecture.The local planner’s report described the proposed design as follows;
“The house fits into the landscape, and is of high design quality, having
emerged from a proper site analysis, and solid understanding of scale,
proportions and form”
The proposed house will be built to near passive standard with thermal mass provided by a natural stone and concrete outer fabric and cellulose filled interior leaf. Expanses of southern glazing are filtered by wooden slats to provide shade and create interesting light compositions within the house interior. We are very much looking forward to working on the detailed design package which will get underway in the coming weeks and we anticipate to be on site by early summer.
